We would have loved to restore the very dilapidated piano found in the apartment. Unfortunately, it had to go, as did the hundred-year-old oak parquet flooring beneath it, whose warping resembled a roller coaster in an amusement park.

The cheerful, fully equipped kitchen now stands where the corner tile stove once was.

The retro-style bathroom was replaced with a bathtub-shower combo, a large mirror, warm marble-patterned tiles, and LED lighting.

The high ceiling allowed for the construction of a mezzanine, where the double bed was placed, creating space for a four-person dining table underneath.

The bedroom received new furniture, upholstery, and curtains.

The only thing that could not be improved was the view, but that would have required cutting down trees, and we certainly wouldn't want that at such a cost!

As the photos show, the renovation of this apartment required stripping it down to the bare walls. Virtually all the water, gas, and electrical wiring had to be reconsidered and redone.
